Frequently Asked Questions

Laura Mouws - June 27, 2023

For many students and recent graduates, entering the workforce can be a daunting task. Often, it’s difficult to get your foot in the door without any relevant experience. That’s where traineeships come in. Traineeships are learning and work-based programs designed to help you acquire industry-specific skills and experience to prepare you for future employment opportunities. In this blog, we’ll answer some of the most frequently asked questions about traineeships.

What is a traineeship?

A traineeship is a program that combines learning with on-the-job training to prepare individuals for future employment opportunities. The goal of a traineeship is to provide participants with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to succeed in a particular industry or job.

What is the duration of your traineeship?

The duration of the traineeship may vary, but on average it’s between 2 and 3 years. In these years you will work on multiple different projects, which will cover 6 to 9 months. After this time period, the client can renew the contract, but we only do this if the trainee wants to keep working with them as well. If the trainee feels like they have learned everything they can on the project, and want to work with a different client, we take that into account.

Are you not done learning after 3 years? Together we will talk about the different possibilities and decide what is the right next step for you. Or have you found the perfect match with one of the clients? Perfect, the goal was to launch your career, so you are free to go and work with them.

What qualifications do I need to apply for a traineeship?

There are some practical requirements to be able to apply for the traineeship:

  • You have recently graduated from university or you are expecting to graduate soon
  • You are located in the Netherlands and permitted to work here
  • You have professional proficiency in the English language

What kind of training will I receive during the traineeship?

During the traineeship, there is time reserved for your professional and personal development. You will work 36 hours a week for you client, and the remaining 4 hours you will be at our office in Utrecht with your fellow trainees. These 4 hours are used for your development: we offer trainings in hard and soft skills, project-based learning sessions, guidance from a coach and many more.

What kind of work will I be doing during the traineeship?

The kind of work you will be doing during the traineeship will depend on the client you will work for. Our current trainees perform different roles, from Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Consultant to Business Analyst. Again, we do this in collaboration with you; you can indicate which roles you would like to explore, and which ones you would not.
